CEHA Publication Contributor Guidelines

What is the Official CEHA Publication?

The official publication of the California Environmental Health Association is the California Journal of Environmental Health (CJEH). It was previously the CEHA Bulletin published four times annually but the Board of Directors decided in Fall of 2008 to discontinue the Bulletin in favor of the twice annually Journal, which will have more formal and professional content and look. It will be written for environmental health professionals working in the diverse areas of environmental health and will feature technical and research articles that are educational while to keeping readers up-to-date on all aspects of environmental health.

Invitation to Contributors

Environmental health professionals, educators, scientists, students and others who are actively involved in any aspect of environmental health are invited to submit articles. Articles should be informative and have the potential to help environmental health practitioners in their work activities. The articles should be well written and of high quality. Articles are considered for publication with the understanding that they are offered exclusively and without fee to the CJEH.

Peer Review

All technical and research articles considered for publication in the CJEH will be submitted to a peer review committee. The committee will include at least one person practicing as an environmental health professional in the area covered by the article and, when deemed necessary, a person with an academic research background.

Style

The Bulletin was not a scientific journal, and therefore did not publish articles in a journal style, rather articles followed newspaper reporting style or general magazine style. The CJEH, however, will be published as a technical journal and papers submitted for publication should follow standards set for articles articles published in a research or technical journal. Examples of previous CEHA bulletins may be found here.
