 A Short History:

In May of 1974, a petition was signed by 29 members of the Southern and Central Chapters of CEHA, who were working within San Luis, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.  This petition was presented to CEHA, with the proposed By-Laws, instructing the Secretary of CEHA to issue a certificate recognizing a new chapter.

On July 1, 1974, Mission Chapter was formed, joining San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties into a "Professional Environmentalist Association." Mission Chapter had a Charter Membership of forty-nine.  Steve Carnes, Supervising Environmental Health Specialist (Retired) for San Luis Obispo County, was the first President.

Mission Chapter has been publishing "The Mission Bell" as the official Chapter Publication since that time.
