Leadership Academy

Leadership is multifaceted, requiring much from the leader.  Being a leader requires character, patience, persistence, communication skills, continuous learning/adaptation, and skill building. The CEHA Leadership Academy is designed to provide participants with the information and skills necessary to lead a team or a program.  It provides participants an opportunity to build and practice essential skills for leadership in Environmental Health.  The competencies covered include:
  • Evaluation: The capacity to evaluate the effectiveness of environmental health procedures, interventions, programs, and to identify improvement actions.
  • Economic and Political Awareness: The capacity to understand and appropriately use information concerning the economic and political implications of decisions.
  • Project Management: The capacity to plan, implement, and maintain fiscally responsible programs/projects using appropriate skills, and prioritize projects across the employee’s entire workload.
  • Effective Partnering: The capacity to form partnerships and alliances with other individuals and organizations in order to enhance individual and agency performance in the field.

The leadership academy runs approximately 1 year with classes spread throughout the year starting at the Annual Educational Symposium (AES) and culminating in presenting their final project and graduating at the following AES. 

The tuition cost for the academy is $1,250 (cash/check) or by $1,295.44 (credit card). 

Please note the participant is responsible for travel and meal costs and general supplies necessary for the course (ex: computer, internet connection, stationary supplies, etc.).
